The March 2025 core update ran from 13 to 27 March 2025, taking 14 days. It was the first core update of 2025 and arrived after a 95-day gap, the longest quiet period since the clustered updates of late 2024. For sites demoted in November or December 2024, this was the first genuine reassessment opportunity.
The first reassessment after the late-2024 cluster
Three confirmed updates ran between 11 November and 26 December 2024. Sites hit in that cluster then waited through January and February with no mechanism to be re-evaluated, because core ranking systems re-score during core updates rather than continuously.
That wait is the part clients find hardest to accept, and it is the single most useful thing to understand about core update recovery. Work completed in January sat unassessed until 13 March regardless of how good it was.

- This one stands alone. Unlike late 2024, no other confirmed update overlaps it, so date matching is reliable here.
- Measure after 27 March, not during. A 14-day rollout moves rankings in both directions throughout.
- Establish scope before doing anything. Site-wide points at composition and trust; one template points at a narrower problem.
