The November 2023 core update ran from 2 to 28 November 2023, taking 26 days. It began four days after the October 2023 core update completed, making it the second of two core updates inside two months, and it overlapped with the November reviews update that started on 8 November. Three confirmed rollouts were live simultaneously for most of that month.

For a review or affiliate site, almost the entire month was contaminated. A drop on 15 November could belong to the core update, the reviews update, or both, and the two need different responses.
How to tell them apart
- Only review pages fell: the reviews update. Look for missing first-hand evidence rather than general quality.
- Everything fell, including non-review content: the core update. That is a site-level quality reassessment.
- Review pages fell hardest but others also slipped: both, which was common and is why this period took longer to fix than a single cause.

Why two core updates in two months mattered
Google shipped core updates in March, August, October and November 2023. Four in one year, with the last two nearly touching. For a site demoted in October, the November update arrived before there was any clean window to measure the October damage, let alone respond to it.
That pattern returned in late 2024 with an even shorter gap. Clustered core updates are the hardest periods to diagnose, because the baseline you need never exists.
